“I think it will have a lot to do with which centers are actually able to bring solar energy to the buildings because some are not properly planned, there are different roof structures so it will be a process of figuring out which ones there are applicable and which are not, “said Peter Demong, Ward 14 Alderman.
According to Demong, this initiative will benefit the city in the long term and will serve to educate people about the benefits and simplicity of solar systems in buildings.
“The part I love the most is that it’s a cost-cutting measure for those community associations and centers that are constantly running out of revenue,” Demong said.
The average lifespan of solar systems is estimated at 20 to 25 years.
All selected centers are expected to have their solar systems completed by the end of 2022.
